It’s FRIDAY! Which means it’s time for another round of my Friday Favorites! Enjoy 🙂

It’s that time again, folks. FRIDAY. And you know what that means… random links from around the
globe Internet that I wanted to share! Get ready to rumble! Or rock-n-roll. Or read…
Did you know the capybara is the world’s largest rodent? Yeah, fact of the day!
I tried this Lightened Up Butternut Skillet Shells from How Sweet it is, and I am officially in love with butternut squash. Sure, peeling and cutting it was a bear, but the hearty, fall-y flavor was worth it. So good!
“The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak was adapted for the stage in Chicago. I read
half the book a few years ago, and really enjoyed the unique point of view and storyline.
Emily Loerke from Today’s Letters posted about camping & hiking Yosemite’s Half Dome. I really want to be her friend. Looks like such fun!
I found out about Threads of Hope, whose goal is to “break the cycle of poverty through strategies that empower the economically disadvantaged.” I just love the concept of helping people in other countries! Read the rest of this entry
Finally, Friday is here! I have been looking forward to today all week (it’s been stressful and sad, if you’ve been keeping up with my tweets or blog) : tonight I’m going to see Milo Greene, tomorrow is the NC State Fair and the big UNC/DUKE football game, and Sunday I’m going to try out a small group with the Summit Church! I’m really hoping this weekend turns out as fun as I hope it will! 🙂 What are your plans?
I found a few links I wanted to share this week; nothing too exciting.
It’s soup season! I’ve been wanting to try new recipes, and this Taco Soup recipe from Sew Caroline looks delicious!
If you were a 90s baby, you probably remember Lisa Frank. Well, here’s a peek into her office space in Tuscon, AZ. Man, it brings back so many memories from my childhood! Not gonna lie, I was a HUGE Lisa Frank fan! Stickers, notebooks, coloring books… oh so fun.

Happy Friday!!! It doesn’t feel like Friday to me… honestly it feels like next Monday! This week has been crazy busy at work, I’ve been testing students like woah, and I’ve already worked over 40 hours. I’m not at work yet, but I plan on going in today long enough for a staff meeting, lunch, working on my timesheet, then heading out of the office around 4:30 for a run! Boom. What’s your Friday schedule looking like?
Here are a few favorites I’ve found this week that I wanted to share:
Check out these 51 creative business cards! Some of them are super cool! Have you ever created unique business cards like these?
Did ya hear about the morning-after pill becoming available for high school students in New York City?! Am I the only one who thinks that’s absolutely ridiculous? Article on USAToday here.
This lemon poppy seed zucchini bread looks amazing! Probably going to be making some loaves tonight!
I’ve played this number game on Sporcle a few times this week and still am frustrated I can’t get them all within the time limit! Read the rest of this entry
Another busy week is (almost) in the books for me! Because it’s been so
stinkin’ busy, I haven’t had much time for online article scouting, but thanks to twitter yet again, I am somewhat up-to-date with recent happenings and cool news stories. Here are some of my favorites from the week:
A piece of the moon goes up for auction. The auction ends October 13th, so you still have time to snag this chunk of the moon.
Turner Classic Movies & Fathom Events are teaming up and bringing E.T. back to the big screen for the 30th Anniversary Event on October 3rd! I haven’t watched the movie in years because it always creeps me out, but I might be willing to give it another shot!
Speaking of older classic movies, Sarah P. Duke Gardens will be showing Back to the Future next Wednesday night around sundown! Picnic and movie in the park, anyone? 😉
Did you know that some famous authors had a little backyard shed or writing hut where they wrote some of their works? How cool would it be to have a cute little escape from the world like that?! Read the rest of this entry
I don’t know about you, but I like Mexican food…. tacos, enchiladas, stuffed peppers, black beans, etc. And I like my Mexican food hot! So when I came across this recipe, I knew I wanted to try it! But, I changed things up a bit because I’m unconventional like that 🙂

I’m back with another installment of Friday favorites! (said in best game show voice)
Last week I shared some favorites from one of my favorite Durham places- the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. I think this summer I have officially been converted to a baseball fan. And I’m going to miss it once the season is over!
Anyways, as you may have heard, I started a new job this week. I didn’t even get a chance to sit down at my desk until Wednesday morning, I didn’t get logged into my
new old computer until Thursday morning, and my time surfing the net for stories and items etc, has been limited. It’s been kind of nice not having Internet time lately, but I really did miss it.
There were a few things that caught my eye this week that I deemed worthy enough of sharing:
A recipe for tomato and peach salad with feta. Nom nom nom. I am a feta machine. I’ve been adding it to a ton of different foods recently! Maybe I can catch some peaches still in season and make this simple salad this weekend…
This guy, Cass, is legit. I stumbled across his blog While Out Riding when a post about Peru was on the Freshly Pressed wordpress page! Of course I had to check it out. And I am so glad I did! I really love his posts- so vibrant in language and in photos! And so many of the images remind me of my time in Peru. I think it’s time to go back!
I like this idea for a chalkboard in my future home! Read the rest of this entry
This weekly post takes so much time for me. Throughout the week I’m constantly emailing links to news stories/videos/stores to myself, then Friday morning I try to weed through them and pick my absolute favorites to share. It’s a tough job, y’all 😉
Summer Veggie Flatbread recipe: found here. Mmmm. (This is one of my favorite food blogs, by the way!)
I’m the nurse in your famous shot: from Letters of Note.
Seriously loving these city prints from Loosepetals on etsy. Too bad there’s no Durham, NC. They need to get on that pronto.
If I planned a Dr. Seuss party, would you come?
I’ve never seen “Dirty Dancing”, but it was filmed at Lake Lure in Western NC! This weekend is the 25th anniversary, and there’s a festival tonight at Lake Lure. How could would it be to watch the movie lakeside where it was filmed?! If I started driving now, I could make it there in time… 😉 Read the rest of this entry
