A Trip to California

Standard

Sometimes, I have this great urge to hop on a plane and fly to California.

(free downloadable print!)

It doesn’t happen all the time, but when it does, the desire is so great that I can almost envision myself living a nomadic life traveling up and down the Pacific Coast.

I would…

Have lots of friends who share the same desire to travel and explore the land.

See the Redwoods that I’ve always longed to see.

Act like a celebrity while walking the streets of L.A.

Embrace a boho-chic style and wear moccasins and flowy tops.

Picnic on a rocky beach while wearing giant sunglasses.

Rent a VW van and have the ability to camp out while on the road.

Kayak on some beautiful mountain lake.

Spend chilly mornings bundled up, holding a steaming mug of coffee and overlooking the gorgeous landscape outside my window.

Take silly pictures in front of the iconic Hollywood sign.

Bike around the San Francisco harbor.

Someday*, I hope to take a trip to California and live out some of these dreams. Until then, I’m content to look at pictures and daydream away. ((I’ve even started a California Dreamin’ board on Pinterest! Nerd alert.))

Have you ever been to California?

*Someday will be happening sooner than I imagined, because I will be spending the New Year and days after in San Francisco & Los Angeles with one of my best friends! I couldn’t be more excitedgiddy, or thrilled about this trip. Sure, the planning is fun, but I can only imagine how awesome the actual trip will be! If you have any Cali cheap places to stay tips or must-sees, let me know!

  1. I’m actually from California! I moved to Nicaragua and live here now, but love my homestate. I used to live in San Francisco and grew up on the central coast, so if you have any questions about Cali before you go, please feel free to email me 🙂 You should definitely make it out there someday!!

    • Oh that’s cool! I think my biggest question as I’m trip planning for New Years, is what’s the weather like in December/January? Also, I’m a food lover so any restaurants you’d suggest, I’m all ears! 🙂 Thanks so much! PS: loving your blog!!!

      • Well first of all, the weather in Jan/Feb is kind of chilly, but no snow. For new years, you could definitely rock a cute short dress with a blazer or a light sweater and heels. Or jeans, heels and a tank top would be fine too! As for restaurants, where do I begin? 🙂 There are so many great ones, depends on if you’ll be in northern or southern CA. In Big Sur you have to try Nepenthe, it has the most amazing views and food (all organic, so California). In SF there are tons of great places, if you like Indian food then I’d recommend Kennedy’s which is an Irish bar and Indian food restaurant in North Beach. Let me know if you need more suggestions, please let me know! And feel free to email me anytime, would love to hear from you! lifeoutthebox@gmail.com.
